Dr. Jörg Überla joined Wellington Partners in February 1999 and focuses on investments in Services, Software and Electronics. He currently manages the firm's investments in 1-2-3.tv, EnOcean, Giga TV, Ingent Technologies, Questico and VoiceObjects, where he acts as an advisor, business developer and networker to accelerate the growth of the business. Jörg has supported three of these companies in the crucial transition to the U.S. market. Prior investments include net mobile, the mobile company that had a successful IPO in the summer of 2005.

Jörg, who concentrated on speech recognition in his doctoral thesis, began his career in 1994 as the second employee and a shareholder of Speech Machines in Malvern, U.K., a start-up company in the field of speech recognition software. He managed the language technology and was instrumental in growing the company from early product development to a successful trade sale to Philips. After four years with the company, Jörg decided to complete his MBA before joining Wellington Partners.

Jörg holds a master's degree in Computer Science from the Universities of Munich and Grenoble, a doctorate in Computer Science from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada, and an MBA from INSEAD.
