Patrick von Bargen

Patrick von Bargen serves as CEO of the Center for Venture Education, a prestigious twenty-four month educational fellowship in the venture capital industry.

Prior to joining the Kauffman Fellows Program, Patrick served as Managing Executive for Policy and Staff at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) under Chairman Bill Donaldson where he managed all facets of the Commission’s policy agenda. Prior to his appointment at the SEC in March 2003, Patrick was the Vice President of the Council on Competitiveness, the only national organization of CEO’s, university presidents and labor leaders focused on economic policy. From 1999-2002, Patrick served as the founding Executive Director of the National Commission on Entrepreneurship, an all-entrepreneur board created to educate policymakers on the role of entrepreneurs in the US and global economy. He currently serves as an International Business Forum (IBF) Advisory Board Member.

Patrick also served as the Chief of Staff for US Senator Jeff Bingaman for 12 years. Early in his career, he worked in venture capital with Sequoia Capital and spent five years providing legal advice to VC firms and CEOs of startup companies.

Throughout Patrick's career, he has a demonstrated track record of delivering results and building loyal organizations.

Patrick graduated in the Charter Class of the Yale School of Management; holds a JD from Stanford Law School; and a BA in history, summa cum laude, also from Stanford.
