Born in Vienna, Austria Georg Lechner studied law at the University of Vienna and at Sorbonne University, Paris, France. Upon completion of his doctorate in International Law, he exercised as judge assistant at Vienna's commercial court and for Heller, Löber, Bahn & Partners, an Austrian law office specialising in corporate law. In the early nineties, he graduated from Yale University, New Haven, USA with an MBA. After practising as a mergers and acquisitions consultant in Paris, he joined a consortium of petrol companies, Texaco, Elf and Agip, where he worked as Finance Director. He later moved to the UK to become Business Development Director for Kellogg's European, Middle Eastern and African operations. Thereafter he integrated British Telecom's Group Strategy and Development Team in London, UK as Business Ventures Director. In May 2001, Georg Lechner joined W L Gore as a member of a global new business ventures team.
