Dr. Jörn Erselius has worked with Garching Innovation GmbH (GI), the technology transfer agency of the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft, since 1991.
At GI he is head of the patent and licensing department and primarily responsible for the "life-science" section. Beside his broad experience in the evaluation of new technologies, patent law and licensing of technology/patents to the pharmaceutical and biotech industry, he has been involved for more than ten years in the foundation of start-up companies, which are based on technology from different Max-Planck-Institutes (e.g. Sugen, EvotecOAI, GPC Biotech, Artemis, Develogen, Scienion, Alnylam). He is member of the board of Scienion and in several scientific expert committees.
During his scientific career he was working with Prof. Dr. Gruss at the ZMBH, Heidelberg on tanscriptional control elements of viruses and later at the Max-Planck-Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, Göttingen on developmental control genes of the mouse.
He is also holding a 'Master of Business Administration' degree from the University of Applied Sciences Deggendorf.
