Mr Vesa Vanhanen is a Principal Administrator working at the Access to finance unit of the Enterprise Directorate-General, European Commission. His tasks include policy coordination, development and advice, and strategic analysis on SME finance issues and European financial markets. His special responsibilities include venture capital and business angel investments.
Prior to joining the European Commission in 1996 he worked for the Bank of Finland in Helsinki. He has also consulted the International Monetary Fund on financial market and management issues. Mr Vanhanen holds a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Social Science from the University of Helsinki. His publications include papers on financial risk management and performance evaluation.
