Prior to founding Leiter & Cie., Dr. Leiter was a partner of McKinsey & Company. He joined the Munich office of McKinsey in 1990, where he worked for clients, mostly in the health care and private equity industries. Dr. Leiter was a key leader of McKinsey's Global Healthcare Practice. He was also an advisor to the McKinsey Investment Office. As a co-founder and key leader of McKinsey's Global Private Equity Practice, he was responsible for deal structuring and equity transactions.
Prior to McKinsey, Dr. Leiter was a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Microbiology at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, NY. His research was sponsored by grants from the N.I.H. and the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation. He worked on the development of alternative antiviral strategies (antisense RNA/DNA), the cloning and sequencing of viral genes, and the expression of viral proteins in mammalian cell culture.
Dr. Leiter graduated from the Leopold Franzens University of Innsbruck, Austria as a Medical Doctor with a Thesis in Biochemistry.
