Mr Carpenter is Chief Executive of the European Investment Fund. EIF is the EU's specialised financial institution providing venture capital and guarantee instruments for the creation, growth and development of small- and medium-sized entreprises in the EU Member States and accession countries. The shareholders of the Fund are the European Investment Bank, the European Commission, and over 30 public and private European financial institutions.
